A celebrated educator, entrepreneur, and advocate for wine culture in India, she is the founder of the Sonal Holland Wine & Spirits Academy and India Wine Awards. Through her expertise and passion, Sonal continues to elevate wine appreciation and education across India and beyond.

India is fast rising as a force to reckon with in the beverage world, and the sommelier community is at the heart of this transformation. SAI’s vision to make India a hub for wine and beverage appreciation and expertise resonates with us. As the country’s leading beverage education institute, the Sonal C Holland Wine & Spirit Academy is thrilled to partner with it and bring a wealth of engaging initiatives to the sommelier community.

Ruma Singh DipWSET, FWS

Ruma Singh DipWSET, FWS, is India’s most highly respected independent wine and spirits journalist and writer. Based in Bangalore, she is an educator, wine judge, consultant, and columnist for leading publications, both Indian and international. She is also the founder of her online wine magazine, Between the Wines and a member of the UK-based Circle of Wine Writers.

It will be exciting times ahead for India's growing wine, spirits, and beverage community with the launch of the Sommeliers Association of India.  This will open up a door to international career opportunities, in-depth learning, and networking with some of the most respected names in the beverage world, and also create a much-need sense of community.

Ideal for wine professionals and enthusiasts, it offers tiered certifications, combining expert insights with practical learning to explore the rich heritage and innovation of California wines.

We are delighted to support the Sommeliers Association of India, we hope to share and expand knowledge of California Wine throughout the Indian Sommelier Community with our partnership with SAI.

Californian Wines

Created in 2003 by Brinda Bourhis. Winevox provides wine education (WSET courses), marketing consultancy and translation services to the wine industry in Bordeaux and other regions of France. Winevox also organises educational wine tastings for prestigious schools (inc. Ivy League) in the US such as Columbia, Stanford, Harvard, MIT, Yale. Winevox is co-ordinator for the Institute of Masters of Wine and the Conseil des Grands Crus Classés 1855, for an annual trip to Bordeaux for 40 candidates from across the world. Brinda Bourhis was born in the UK and also holds dual French nationality having lived in France now for over 25 years. She has built solid relationships with the wineries in France.

I have been connected with the Indian wine market for several years, and have seen how the country has evolved, developing a real desire to learn about the wines. I am thrilled to see the launch of the Sommeliers Association of India. It will bring plenty of opportunities and India deserves to have its place on the international wine market.

Laurent Moujon

Laurent Moujon is author of several books on food and wine pairing. His first publication in 2010 was a tourism guide book entitled ‘Bordeaux World Heritage and its Wines’. Then he launched a series of books on Chinese cuisine, followed by Japanese cuisine & Bordeaux Wines. 2020 saw the creation of a unique publication on the fascinating Indian Cuisine with contributing celebrity chefs from India, USA and UK.

It is a great pleasure to see the creation of the first ever Sommeliers Association of India founded by a remarkable team: Amrita and Mattia who are top professionals and have a real passion for wines. The wine market in India is constantly evolving and SAI will be a platform to promote the profession of sommeliers.  Dionysos will shine again in India. Santé!
